What is SSC CGL?
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is an organisation under Government of India conducts CGL (Combined Graduate Level) examination for the recruitment of Grade “B” and “C” categories posts in various Government Ministries, Departments and Offices. Every year, around 30-40 lakh applications, are received for CGL Exam. Every year, a huge number of applicants appear in this exam to become the part of this immense recruitment procedure.

SSC CGL 2018 EXAM PATTERN AND SYALLABUS:
The Preliminary Exam of SSC CGL 2018 is scheduled from 25th July to 20th August 2018. Candidates who prepared by following the latest SSC CGL Syllabus were able to scale this exam. The Combined Graduate Level Tier-II Examination has been rescheduled from 27th November to 30th November. Tier-III Exam will be conducted on 31st March 2018. SSC CGL 2018 exam consists of IV tiers. The first II tiers will be computer based test while tier III would be a written descriptive test and tier IV would be a skill test.A fair knowledge of SSC CGL Syllabus for Tier-I, Tier-II & III Exam is necessary to prepare effectively for this exam.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier I Syllabus: There will be 4 sections consisting of 25 questions each in Tier I. The time allotted for the exam is 75 minutes and the total marks allotted is 200 marks.The major sections asked in SSC CGL 2018 Preliminary Exam are General Awareness, Reasoning, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier II Syllabus:The Mains Exam will be conducted online and is an objective multiple choice exam. The major sections included in Mains Exam are Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics, General Studies (Finance and Economics). All the papers consist of 100 questions each. The time duration for all the papers is 2 hours while total marks allotted per paper is 200.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier III Syllabus is a Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi consisting of Essay/ Precise/ Letter/ Application writing. The mode of examination is offline. The total marks allotted for the paper is 100. All candidates will be given 60 minutes to complete the paper.The time allotted for candidates belonging to PWD category is increased to 80 minutes. Tier-III paper is given by specific candidates who are interested only for the post of “Statistical Investigator Grade II” & “Compiler”.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier-IV Syllabus:Tier-IV examination comprises of couple of skill sets required for certain Government Posts all over the country. It is the final stage of CGL exam. The Tier IV exam is conducted to test the typing skills of the candidate for various posts. The stage 4 is also known as Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax),DEST Exam through SSC CGL 2018 exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate. The candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides are the three modules that are important for this exam and the commission demands a candidate to be proficient in it for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).

Penalty for wrong answers

Giving a wrong answer to a question will lead to deduction of 0.5 marks in Tier – I, III and IV while that of 0.25 marks in Tier-II.
